Mind Calming Chapter 2: Tai Mo Shan

The Highest Mountain in Tsuen Wan

Tai Mo Shan is the highest peak in Hong Kong, with an elevation of 957metres. From the history literature mentioned, the shape of the hills like a hat so it is called “Tai Mo Shan”. Tai Mo Shan is located at the centre of New Territories, it is easily to overlook more than 80% Hong Kong view. There are many routes to go there. In the following, I would like to introduce one of the routes:
Lead Mine PassàTai Mo ShanàRoute Twisk

To arrive Lead Mine Pass, there are two routes to choose. The walking time of the
difference between two routes is approximately 30 mins. You can find more information in the Transportation part

After arriving Lead Mine Pass, average height is around 400 meters. Then you walk through all of the stairs, the slope is decreased gradually. After that, you keep on walking upward, you can see a pavilion with average height around 700 meters. You can eat some food in there to increase physical strength and then move on. There are one road to go Ng Tung Tsai Waterfall. It is rarely dangerous so that we don’t recommend you to go there.

Walking upward the Route Twisk, you arrive the top of mountain- Tai Mo Shan finally. It is necessary to be careful that the concreter road is steep. The top of the mountain have a wireless station that it is the symbolic structure. Besides, the top of Tai Mo Shan is restricted area. You can still observe the nearly panoramic view of Hong Kong nearby. It is a good chance to mind calming and relax in there.

Keep on walking downard Tai Mo Shan Road, you may pass through the management station and information center then arrive the Route Twisk. The journey of MacLehose Trail (Stage8) is finished.
